Writers from two Upper Hunter writers’ groups will read from their work at Scone’s historic Old Court Theatre in an event hosted by Arts Upper Hunter.

The Warrah Writers, who meet at the Warrah Creek Hall, 20 kilometres from Willow Tree on the Liverpool Plains, were established in 2001. They’ve published two anthologies of fiction, poetry and non-fiction and run workshops from time to time.

Poets Corner, who meet at Haydon Hall in Murrurundi, was established in 2011 and meet bi-monthly. Their collective body of work has grown to the extent the where they’re planning to publish an anthology.

“Voices” will be compered by Mike Pritchard from ABC Radio.

Arts Upper Hunter’s Mark Reedman said, “Hearing a writer read their work aloud brings a whole new dimension to the words on a page and the event will be an excellent way to discover some wonderful local writing.”

“Voices” will be held on Sunday the 17th of November at 4 pm. The Old Court Theatre is in Kingdon Street, Scone. Tickets are $5 each and can be bought at the door. Proceeds will be used for hire of the theatre and to provide a light refreshment break. The event will run for approximately two hours.
