Martin & Jan Fallding, organisers of the annual Baerami Bush Dance, invite to join their the Baerami Bush Dance at Home. RSVPs are essential.
The annual Baerami Bush Dance and Campout in the Upper Hunter Valley would have been this Saturday evening 2nd May 2020. This was to have been the 29th dance held. With social distancing requirements currently applying, the Jan and Martin have sadly had to cancel this year’s event.
However, in keeping with the spirit of making traditional music and social dancing accessible and fun, they are going to have a Baerami Dance at home on Saturday evening 2 May between 7.30 pm and 9.00 pm. You can join this on-line event which will be free and held as a Zoom meeting. They will follow social distancing protocols, and your participation will prepare you for next year’s dance (Sat 1 May 2021)!
With a small live band playing music, dances explained and walked through, an explanation of the instruments, snippets of commentary and description of the history of Baerami Dance, this is an opportunity not to be missed. While it will help to have a dance partner, and a household that can participate, the dances are organised so one person or couple can dance.
They will try their hardest to stick to the following program for Saturday 2 May 2020:
7.30 pm – Introduction to Baerami Dance and the program
7.35 pm – Two dances for children, but OK for adults too! (Polka and March)
7.45 pm – About the instruments and the band
7.55 pm – Brief history of the dance, and reminiscences
8.00 pm – Two social isolation dances (Polkas)
8.20 pm – Catch your breath with the Baerami dance trivia quiz
8.30 pm – Two couples dances (Schottische & Waltz)
8.45 pm – Concluding comment and tune
8.50 pm – Final dance (COVID Jig)
