The Grand Opening of Gallery on Dowling at 120 Dowling Street, Dungog is being held on Saturday 15th February commencing at noon. Music will be by the de factos, and the opening is sponsored by Tin Sheds, Darks Liquor and Long Room Cafe.
Gallery on Dowling is an artist initiative by Jeanne Harrison and Helene Leane. Both are printmakers and painters and have secured a large space in Dungog to exhibit their artwork.
Jeanne and Helene are active members of Newcastle Printmakers Workshop and have exhibited in the Hunter Valley and Sydney, and Helene has participated in an exhibition in New York. They are both prize-winning artists.
Their works are landscape based, often with an abstract element. The printmaking techniques used are collagraphs and monotypes, and have an expressive, colourful quality that intrigue the viewer.
The gallery is also displaying textile jewelry and artist’s books. Textile artists are Pamela Priday, Pat Davidson, Janette Kearns Wilson, and Margaret Butchmann. Pauline Tickner has her artist’s books on exhibition.
The gallery is situate in the main street adjacent a coffee shop and opposite a small, local brewery.
Gallery on Dowling will be open Thursday to Saturday 10 am to 4pm, Sunday 11 am to 3pm and other times by Appointment.
