Arts Upper Hunter is hosting an exhibition by Jess Dugan, a local photographer, from the 11 March to the 18 April in our office foyer at 142 Bridge St, Muswellbrook.
‘Happiness is different for everyone. One thing that might make one person happy, another doesn’t give thought to. During some recent training I did on Visible Wellbeing, through the Where There’s A Will foundation, we were tasked to write a list of what makes us happy. It is easy enough to write a list, but to actually do these things in today’s fast paced society, can have its own set of hurdles.‘
I was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand and moved to Sydney, Australia in 2007, and then to Muswellbrook, NSW in 2009. I am married with three children and currently live in Muswellbrook, NSW.
I began my photography career in 2012, after studying a certificate in photography through open colleges and have specialised in family, wedding and portrait photography for the past six years.
I have a keen interest in fine art and artistic photography and will be focusing on that in the near future.
I enjoy capturing landscapes and viewing how to light changes through the different contours of the land. I also enjoy photographing items that are a little left wing and different.
I was a finalist in the 2014 Muswellbrook Photographic Prize, won 2nd in the Muswellbrook Local Art Awards (Local Photography Prize) in 2016 for ‘Child’s Play, 2nd in the Muswellbrook Local Art awards (Local Photography Prize) in 2017 for ‘Reflecting on the past’ and first in the 2018 Muswellbrook Local Art Awards (Local Photography Prize) for ‘Jeremiah’.
