Last weekend saw two exciting workshops to make and decorate tiles for the pizza oven at Bandon Grove Hall with community members of all ages joining in.
Many thanks to Clare Tilyard and Alexandra Wade for their expertise and artistic guidance.
The overall theme for the tiles was native plants and individual designs were based on photographs of plants collected in the area by Bill Dowling, by plants and seed pods brought along by workshop participants, and by drawings by Alexandra, and Bruce Read. The designs were applied to the tiles using a variety of tools and techniques. Well done everyone!
The Bandon Grove School of Arts Committee is very grateful to Regional Arts NSW and Arts Upper Hunter for the Country Arts Support Program grant which enabled us to carry out this enriching project.
The tiles will dry over a week or so before they are fired. They’ll be applied to the pizza oven early in 2020 when we’ll have a celebratory pizza evening!
