Audiences of all ages in regional NSW and rural areas will soon have more access to the state’s best artistic and cultural productions, with applications for Create NSW’s 2023/24 Regional Arts Touring funding program opening today.
NSW artists and cultural producers are invited to apply for funding to tour high-quality programs, experiences and events to regional centres across NSW, enriching the lives and livelihoods of tens of thousands of people in NSW.
Regional Arts Touring funding is available to all artforms – performing arts, music, visual arts, literature, history, museums and multi-arts – for applicants with a strong program of audience development and engagement across multiple regional and rural centres.
Previous tours funded through this initiative have included box office smash-hit productions such as The Visitors presented by Arts on Tour and Double Delicious by Contemporary Asian Australian Performance Inc; Aboriginal art presented by Saltwater Freshwater; musical performances; sell-out children’s shows; and world-famous comedy.
These tours support the wider arts, culture and creative industries ecosystem, by supporting the viability of NSW arts and cultural organisations, while building larger regional audiences for arts and culture and encouraging stronger long-term support for the local arts sector and facilities.
Annette Pitman, Chief Executive Create NSW said:
“NSW produces incredible arts and cultural experiences, which should be able to be enjoyed by a wide audience. This dedicated touring initiative will deliver cultural vibrancy and wider economic benefits to local communities by generating employment opportunities and exceptional tourism experiences across our state.
“No matter where you live, you should be able to participate in high-calibre arts and culture, either as an audience member or as a participant.
“Create NSW is proud to offer this opportunity to exceptional NSW-made arts and cultural experiences to travel and engage communities across our state, building audiences and local support for the fantastic cultural infrastructure in regional and rural areas”.
