Blance Violet Maher’s exhibition is on Saturday 30 November to Wednesday 4 December 2024 at the Merriwa CWA.
Blanche Violet Maher was a female nineteenth century photographer from Merriwa/ Cassilis in NSW. Blanche worked in wet and dry collodion plates from 1894 – 1920 and later in film. In March 2024 Blanche had her first exhibition in Sydney “Blanche Violet Maher Landscapes and Protraits 1894 – 1920 ” at the Woolahra Gallery. We are very excited that Blanche is having a photographic exhibition at the Merriwa CWA before her work travels to New York , Paris and London in 2025. On another note as well as being a accomplished photographer, Blanche was also the founder of the Merriwa CWA under her married name Blanche Violet Jennings.
Blanche’s story is of a pioneering photographer artist and social activist from rural NSW in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Please feel free to follow on instagram @blanchevioletmaher and explore the website www.blanchevioletmaher.com
