Arts Upper Hunter is seeking a dynamic individual to support the development and sustainability of Aboriginal arts and cultural practice within the region. It’s a part-time position, two days a week, with some flexibility about working hours.
Arts Upper Hunter (AUH) promotes, supports and provides opportunities for people in the Upper Hunter to participate creatively in the lives of their communities. operates primarily on Wanaruah Land in the Local Government Areas of Dungog, Muswellbrook, Singleton and Upper Hunter.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with connections to community, an interest in the arts and a desire to help make a difference. The right candidate will become a member of a very supportive state-wide network of Aboriginal Arts Officers.
The AAO will initially work from offices in the Wanaruah Local Aboriginal Lands Council in Muswellbrook, as well as other locations across the region.
The AAO will:
● meet with artists, businesses and other organisations and community groups to identify their professional needs for creative and cultural development.
● identify Aboriginal arts and artists across the AUH region.
● manage and assist with at least one exhibition or event each year.
● work with other stakeholders to develop strategies for art practice, connection to exhibition spaces and places, and professional development.
