Calling artists, quiltmakers, crafty people, kids, adults, peace activists, people who care…
Scone artist Janno McLaughlin, is stitching together a giant patchwork quilt… hoping to cloak the Ukraine in support from the global community. She has put the call out for more patches.
Janno say, ” We are still immersed in making our #sunflowerquiltforukraine to show Ukrainians some hope and love and let them know they are not forgotten or alone in this 2-year nightmare of war, and now aiming for our art installation/quilt to stretch along the main street in Kiev, Ukraine, as well as wrapping broken buildings, bombsites, places of atrocities, farmland, churches, schools etc…Christo style.
We have teamed up with the Ukrainian Quilters association and this week with the USA charity; – ‘Wrap the World with Quilts,’ who are making and gathering 30 cm patches from across the USA for our #sunflowerquiltforukraine art installation, and who have somehow already managed to send over 30,000 small bed quilts to Ukrainian children, soldiers, homeless , hospitals, orphanages as well as thousands of quilts to other war ravaged countries.”
Please join us if you can and send 30 cm patches to Janno, theme is sunflower or peace, hope, love.
Patches can be sent to Janno at: PO Box 746, Scone, NSW, 2337, Australia.
