The Horizons program for young people across regional NSW has wound up – and Arts Upper Hunter held a special celebration. Three of our four young artists joined eight creative professionals at the Singleton Arts & Cultural Centre for cake, conversation, critique and closure. (The fourth, Emily Smallmon, couldn’t make it on the day.)
Joining filmmaker Thomas Ryan, visual artist Kasey Tudor and filmmaker and musician Juniper Martin were Martha Moderitz, Suzannah Jones, Kerri-Ann Taggart, Grace Barnes, Jane Richens, Chris Dewar, Rob Cleworth and Tobias Spitzer. Plucky program coordinator and ceramicist Fabian Pertzel zoomed in. The established artists offered advice and wisdom (“Rejection is part of it”, “Aim both high and low”, “Find collaborators”) and learned as much as they provided. The event was also a great networking opportunity. EVERYONE left inspired!
You can see some excellent work by the three on-line at Digital Showcase – Horizons.
Horizons – Creative Industries Career Launchpad is funded by through the Regional Youth Incentive Program of the Office of Regional Youth and the NSW Regional Arts Network.
