This fun family event will be taking place this school holidays, Wednesday, October 4th at GJ’s By The Lake from 10:30am – 3:00pm.
Create by the Lake is an opportunity for the local community to meet some of the LiddellWORKS Creative Program artists. This program was a collaborative partnership between Arts Upper Hunter and AGL to commemorate and capture the closure of the Liddell Power Station through the arts.
Young people and adults are invited to take part in creative workshops such as cartooning, crochet, clay landscaping, blacksmithing, and face painting.
Workshop numbers will be limited to ensure everyone gets the most from them. You can reserve your spot in a workshop by calling Marina on 0498 742 731 or arrive at the GJ’s gate at 10:30AM for early registration. Workshops will commence at 11:00AM and run throughout the day.
The first 50 young people through the gate at 10:30AM will receive a free laser tag pass, thanks to the generosity of Upper Hunter Community Services through their BHP Community Capacity Building grant.
Participants will also be able to experience an amazing 3D Virtual Reality tour of the Liddell Power Station through headsets and goggles, the brainchild of Newcastle creative, Tim Black.
At 12:00PM the stunning Waagan Galga Dance group will do a Smoking Ceremony, Welcome To Country and Creation Dance.
Stunt clown, magician and entertainer extraordinaire The Amazing Jono will also be there with his crazy inventions, tricks and mad antics keeping the crowds amused throughout the day.
Entry on the day is free and so are the workshops. Muswellbrook Rotary Club will be offering a BBQ lunch, Double Picc Coffee Van will be in attendance, fairy floss and icy cones will all be available at family friendly prices.
Community supporters Power FM will be broadcasting live, in between musicians performing from the Muswellbrook Conservatorium of Music.
Create by the Lake has been made possible through the generous support of AGL and Create NSW.
Come along for a creative day out for the whole family! Don’t miss this school holidays event!
