Small Forest Wines is proud to present an exhibition of works by local equine veterinarian and artist James (Jim ) Rodger. The exhibition opens Saturday 11 June until Sunday 7 August.
Artist statement:
Jim Rodger is a Hunter Valley Equine veterinarian. Born in the U.K. and graduating from Glasgow University before commencing his career in England, he soon became committed to the various facets of the horse industry.
His work took him to areas such as the Norfolk Broads and the Stowe Valley, all famous for painters such as Constable.
While in Newmarket he became familiar with the works of the famous horse painter Sir Alfred Munnings, Stubbs and many others.
Always an amateur artist he has continued to paint and was encouraged while in Scone by the teaching of Gillian Hook.
He continues to paint horses and landscapes fitting it in with a busy life as a veterinary practitioner and getting inspiration by occasional travels and the scenery and horses of the Hunter Valley stud farms.
