The artists of Dungog by Design call on all global communities to join us in Climate Action Day on 6th November by carrying an umbrella with their personal comment or message on creating change.
Umbrellas are used as a metaphor for how fragile our planet is and how each and everyone of us needs to bear responsibility for change. The artists have created their personal message as an installation to engage and rally with their communities currently opening up from the malaise created by lockdowns.
While people sit in rooms talking about it, we are mobilising artists from across the world to participate in a Day of Creative Action. A visible, powerful, immediate and tangible response to
the detrimental and significant effects of climate disruption on our communities It is vital to challenge our behaviour to affect mindful change thus preserving our planet.
There is a lack of real committment and a severe lag in decisions by our leaders to create emission targets and effective strategies for management of our future.
“So we have not come here to beg the world leaders to care for our future…They have ignored us in the past and they will ignore us again. We have come here to let them know that change is coming whether they like it or not. The people will rise to the challenge.” — Greta Thunberg
On Saturday 6 November join us in climate action at the gallery 222 Dowling Street at 12 noon, bring an umbrella, celebrate our community solidarity and show that we CARE beyond short term corporate gain.
The exhibition closes on Sunday 21 November 2021.
This project is spearheaded by Sasi Victoire who belongs to Micro Galleries Global Creative Collective, https://microgalleries.org/collective in participation with the artists of Dungog by Design.
