Roger Skinner, one of the artists currently featured at the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre, recently gave the members of the U3A a guided tour. Roger has provided this image and account of the visit.
“It was an arranged visit with members of U3A visiting the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre, which forms part of their regular activities, that I was asked if I could give them a guided tour of the centre which I was delighted to do. I spoke to them about Rebecca Raths works in oil as an intense view of landscapes in the broad all made on the Broken Back Range. There is a distinct difference from the broad views from the range to the more detailed close up views of the ragged vegetation, in the Town Hall Gallery. I gave them a bit about the history of the “new” spaces, the Watters, Centre Court and Wollemi Galleries and the shows that were on in those spaces Twofold currently in the Watters Gallery, which contains works from the collection that contain two primary objects in the frame and Coast – The Edge featuring coastal environments investigations by Ian Skinner Sally Burnside and myself. This show featuring Ian’s visions of the coast in very detailed observations, Sallys underwater paintings and photography and my Zen like observations of coast writ large. The group were pleasantly surprised asking questions and chatting about the works, and enjoyed the tour very much and will make regular visits to the centre as the shows change.”
