The Merriwa Gallery is proud to present this fabulous exhibition by the Merriwa Central Visual Arts Students, opening 8 September 2022.
Visual Arts teacher Hannah Waters shares…..
“Merriwa Central School’s Visual Arts students have contributed a range of their resolved artmaking alongside their documentation of process for this exhibition. This is the first opportunity our young artists have had to exhibit their work in a dedicated gallery space. The agency this space has provided them with facilitates a more complex and layered understanding of the impact and meaning of their artmaking. They have curated the exhibition for them – identifying and selecting individual works, explorations of and responses to their world – as a way of sharing with the community. These works range across the school year and communicate the varying processes and conventions students have considered in the development of practice. These works indicate students’ increasing autonomy in their material and conceptual ideas and intentions as artists that can be connected in tangible ways to the significance of ‘exhibition’. Thank you to the Merriwa Gallery for the continued support of our future artists and their art education.”
Open: 8 September to 22 September 2022.
