Mona Magazine is thrilled to announce the launch of its third print edition, celebrating the art, stories and interviews of 41 regional and rural Australian women. Issue 03 features stunning cover art by Albury artist Dr Jet Driver-o’Keefe and Stanley artist R’Baahn.
The third edition of Mona Magazine builds upon the success of its first two releases, delivering an exceptional collection of thought-provoking essays, poems, short stories, experimental works, and interviews from women across generations and backgrounds. Their stories reflect the unique experiences and challenges faced by rural women and explore themes like community, identity, grief and loss, belonging, admiration, and the complexities of rural life, creating a tapestry of voices that resonate deeply with readers.
With a deep commitment to amplifying the voices and experiences of women living in rural communities, Mona Magazine is at the forefront of championing diverse perspectives and showcasing the immense talent within these often-underrepresented communities.
“The Mona team takes pride in providing a platform that allows rural women to share their stories, thoughts, and creative works,” Kat Vella, one of the Founders of Mona Magazine said.
“Our little volunteer team is thrilled to release Mona’s third edition. We have been working every spare moment to curate, edit and design this edition having had over 100 submissions to consider for inclusion. This edition will not only inspire and empower our readers, but we hope it also encourages a broader conversation about women’s experiences in the bush.”
As Mona Magazine is a community project and totally volunteer run, funding of Issue 03 has been provided by a generous $20,000 grant from Create NSW.
The launch of the third edition of Mona Magazine represents a significant milestone in its journey to become a prominent voice in the literary landscape. With each edition, the magazine continues to expand its reach and impact, connecting with an ever-growing community of rural women who have longed for a platform to share their stories and find solace in the narratives of others.
