At this year’s Scone Literary Festival Community Afternoon you can sit in on a thought-provoking panel about the legacy and future of our region.
After Liddell will look from the past into a transitional future, through the eyes of writers and artists with a deep connection to the Hunter. We’ll be discussing the emotional side of change and transition, from solastalgia to hope, discovering ways of framing a diverse story for our beautiful Valley as we move into a post-carbon era. What is the legacy of Liddell? What new (and old) industries might be on the horizon? What does the workforce think? What do creatives see when they gaze into the past or look into the crystal ball?
Led by John O’Brien from Arts Upper Hunter, ‘After Liddell’ stars a diverse collection of thinking creatives, featuring some of their work to springboard the conversation:
- Dr Patrice Newell AM – author, campaigner, & land manager.
- Catherine Hickson BA, MA – artist, psychotherapist, mother, & bio-diversity manager.
- Dr Penny Dunstan PhD (Fine Art), M AgSc – artist, writer, agronomist/soil scientist.
- We’ll also be joined by Rob Cooper, representing community relations, stakeholder engagement and communications for AGL.
Also on that afternoon from midday: recycle your books and your insights with the roving book club and community book swap! And you can purchase a light lunch.
