Screenworks is calling for applications to its three Career Pathways Programs which help regional screenwriters, directors and producers make stronger industry connections, build skills and advance their careers. The deadline for applications for each of the programs – Regional Producer Elevator Program, Director Pathways Program and Inside The Writers Room – is Friday 29 October 2021. The programs are once again being supported by funding from Screen NSW.
Each of Screenworks’ Career Pathways Programs are designed to advance the careers of regional practitioners by connecting them with industry professionals and opportunities. Through Screenworks’ existing partnerships with organisations and production companies, the selected participants will be provided with invaluable support and guidance from some of Australia’s most respected writers, directors and producers.
“Screenworks has proudly supported 53 screen practitioners from regional NSW through our Career Pathways Programs since we first introduced them in 2015,” explained Screenworks CEO Ken Crouch. “Many of the programs’ alumni have gone on to receive funding for their own projects, partnered with
respected industry professionals and further developed their slate of projects. We’re looking forward to supporting another group of talented regional creatives through these three programs in 2022.”
Screenworks’ 2022 Regional Producer Elevator Program will provide two selected regional NSW producers with $3,500 and the opportunity to observe a professional working producer in a program partner production company for 5 days. They will receive career and project advice from a professional producer, attend the 2022 Screenworks Regional To Global Forum and the 2022 Screen Forever Conference. This program will be delivered with support from Screen NSW, Screen Producers Australia and Fremantle Media.
Two regional NSW directors will be granted $3,500 to implement a bespoke professional development program that will help them advance their screen directing career as part of the Director Pathways Program. This program will be delivered in partnership with Screen NSW and the Australian Directors’ Guild and with support from Fremantle Media.
Finally, three regional NSW screenwriters will be selected to participate in the Inside The Writers Room program, where they will have the opportunity to observe a professional writing team working on television drama at some of Australia’s most respected production companies – EQ Media, Matchbox Pictures and Wooden Horse. Inside the Writers Room is being funded by Screen NSW and supported by Fremantle. Independent selection panels made up of representatives from Screenworks’ program partners, industry bodies and guilds will assess the applications for each of the programs.
