Cohesion + young creativity come together at Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre this summer
The creativity of local high school artists and makers will fill the walls of Singleton Arts and Culture Centre this summer alongside works from four established artists that together explore the concept of cohesion.
Opening at the Arts + Cultural Centre on Friday 15 November will be Upper Arts 24, an annual exhibition showcasing artmaking from Singleton’s senior high school students, and Cohesion, featuring a variety of works from known artists Neilton Clarke, Will Maguire, Michael McIntyre and Kara Wood.
While each artist works in a different medium, their work will come together in the Cohesion exhibition to explore the subtle relationships between shapes in space, connections and collisions.
Vicki Brereton, Singleton Council’s Director Organisation and Community Capacity, said visitors would be treated to two really exciting exhibitions at the Arts + Cultural Centre this summer.
“From paintings, printmaking, sculptures and ceramics, there will be a wide range of artworks from a wide range of artists to see, making it a must-see experience for locals and visitors alike,” she said.
“We’re incredibly excited to host Cohesion, featuring some truly intriguing works from four incredibly talented artists, including local artist Will Maguire.
“At first glance, the pieces on exhibition might look completely different but on closer inspection, they come together cohesively, making it a really thought-provoking exhibition that we’re excited for visitors to see.
“We’re also delighted to once again host the Upper Arts exhibition which not only gives our young creatives a space to showcase their works in a professional gallery setting, but the community a glimpse into the hearts and minds of some of our youngest creatives.”
Cohesion will show in the Main Gallery and Upper Arts 24 in Studio 1 of the Arts + Cultural Centre from Saturday 16 November 2024 – Sunday 26 January 2025.
The opening event for the exhibitions, starting at 6pm, is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
Venue: Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre, 23 Maitland Rd, Singleton.
