Small Forest Wines presents The Collected Works of the Denman Art Group for four months commencing Saturday 1 February 2025.
They will be changing some of the paintings every month so returning visitors will enjoy different paintings but all from the group.
Artist Statment.
We are an eclectic group of local people who gather together regularly to indulge our interest in ART.
The magnet in the beginning was a local artist who offered to share her knowledge & artistic skills with anyone who wanted to learn. Of those drawn in, some of us had a little school day experience, some had gone a little further, some had a few later life ventures into “crafty” art, others had no idea but always thought it would be great “if only they could”. We were shown the basics, given some theory, & our “unique talents” were extended. The joys (and frustrations) of becoming an artist grew. We were then left to our own devices when our guide left the district.
Not wanting to stop the art we were by now starting to enjoy, & finding the company of others motivating, we continue to meet under our own tuition. We share our particular talents, experiment, make mistakes & produce great works with individual style. We make occasional visits to, & exhibit in, local Galleries, attend short workshops with visiting artists &, above all, have fun. Sometimes, we enjoy a social lunch afterwards.
On display are some of our many works spanning several years, varied mediums & many styles. As individuals we have not produced a large number of works, so have combined for this exhibition in the hope it may inspire YOU to join us & use those hidden, (or out there), talents we all have.
We meet Thursday mornings in Denman from 9.00 till about 12.00.
The venue, Merton Living Library Hall, is generously provided by Merton Living with some of us being residents of Merton Retirement Village.
Anyone interested is most welcome to come along and spend a morning or two with us and maybe you’ll want to stay. Any active artists are most welcome to come & share.
