Exceptional NSW arts and cultural programs and productions eager to hit the road are invited to apply for the first round of Create NSW’s new simpler, fairer and faster Regional Arts Touring fund, now open for applications.
Funding in two categories – up to $60,000 for Small Tours and up to $120,000 for Large Tours– will deliver world-class arts and cultural experiences to tens of thousands of people in every corner of NSW.
In response to feedback from the sector, the guidelines and application process have been streamlined. The new program now allows longer touring schedules, and will see small and large tours, each with different funding requirements, assessed separately.
Both individuals and organisations, from many artforms– from First Nations NSW arts and culture, to performing arts, visual arts, literature, history and museums, to digital and immersive arts – are eligible for both small and large tour funding.
Previous tours supported through this program include Sydney Youth Orchestras’ Big West Tour; an 11-venue tour of new Australian play Wild Thing written by Suzanne Hawley, and Artspace’s tour of Jonathan Jones’ acclaimed exhibition untitled (transcriptions of country). While popular children’s theatre, dance tutorials, music masterclasses, poetry-slams and literature programs have educated and inspired thousands of regional youth, to enhance cultural access and spark creativity
Karen Rodgers, Director Arts Create NSW said: “Create NSW is proud to offer this dedicated touring opportunity that will enable high-calibre arts and cultural experiences to connect with and enrich the lives of audiences across NSW.
“We’ve transformed the program to encourage a diverse range of arts, culture and creative producers to apply. We’ve levelled the playing field for small and large tours, and the process will be simpler and faster for all.
“Arts and cultural tours are critical to the social fabric of our society. Communities benefit from these tours in so many ways, from arts education, to venue activation, audience growth and access, employment and professional development opportunities, to bringing people together through entertaining experiences.”
Applications close Friday 9 September 2024.
