‘I’m a bad tempered puddin, and quite funny really, but most importantly full of magic’ Albert, The Magic Pudding
Grab the kids, grandkids and big kids, and anyone young and heart. Bring a picnic and come along to experience the talented Upstage gang with their unforgettable adventure, an Australian classic – The Magic Pudding at Tocal Homestead.
Believe it or not, the October school holidays are just around the corner, and at Upstage Youth Theatre, we’re thrilled to present Norman Lindsay’s timeless. The show is adapted by Andrew James with music by Sarah de Jong.
Our talented cast and crew have been hard at work at Upstage HQ to bring this classic tale to life. Expect adventure, magic, mischief and music, all set against the historic 200-year-old Tocal Homestead. The outdoor theatre features the original cottage of the bushranger Captain Thunderbolts as its stunning backdrop.
“I can’t believe what this talented cast has achieved in a short time, bringing this story from the page to the stage. It is a story for young and old!” Director Jess Rose.
Meet Bunyip Bluegum, a stylish young koala whose dream of being a gentleman of leisure is upended up a hearty appetite. Along the way he joins forces with Bill Barnacle and Sam Sawnoff, who happens to own the extraordinary Albert – a pudding that magically replenishes itself! But beware – sneaky villains are out to thwart their best-laid plans and the grand Tocal Show.
‘I have always wanted to create an inclusive space for kids to feel secure enough to express themselves, to be able to provide these performance opportunities on top of weekly classes and witnessing these kids bloom into talented performers is what is all about. We are also celebrating 21 years of theatre this year – isn’t that magic!’ Ann Croger, Upstage Theatre Company owner
