Small Forest Wines is pleased to be hosting this workshop with Tomoko Oka.
Sumi in Japanese means “ink” and e means “painting”.
Sumi-e uses various techniques of gradation, shading, bleeding, and blurring. Using different brush techniques, and different mixtures of water and ink, you can create gorgeous mountain scenery, forest vistas, and elegant bamboo stands!
Tomoko is a Japanese artist based around Sydney and the Central Coast. She will be teaching the basics of sumi-e painting on traditional thin rice-paper.
You will create your own Sumi-e and take your final artworks home.
Come and find out more!
All materials will be provided. No knowledge of Sumi-e (or any painting skill) is required.
