CANTELINA BIO:
Cantelina is an all-female choir formed by Samantha Cobcroft in 2022 to assist with musical ministry at St Alban’s Anglican Church, Muswellbrook after the departure of a long-term cantor.
They are an entry by audition group who have sung unaccompanied and accompanied vocal music by composers including Maurice Duruflé, John Rutter, Josquin des Prez, R. L. Pearsall, J S Bach, M. Lauridsen, John H Maunder, César Franck, William Byrd, Hubert Parry and Felix Mendelssohn.
Much of the repertoire chosen for this group has come from music handed down to Sam(antha Cobcroft) by her maternal Grandma and Great Grandfather, Willie Sutcliffe. Willie was a fellow of Royal College of Organists based at the Wesley Burnley Methodist
Church in Lancashire.
In April 2015 they augmented their group with local singers as well as guest male choristers from Newcastle and Sydney to form the Cantelina Chorale and performed a program of early and modern choral music in Scone, Muswellbrook and Singleton with profits from the concerts going to Scone Arts and Crafts and Scone Singers.
