Welcome to Alive in the Upper Hunter, a new touring initiative connecting communities across the Dungog, Singleton, Muswellbrook and Upper Hunter Shires through inspiring live performances and creative experiences.
Over the next twelve months, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse program of theatre, storytelling, music and live entertainment presented in unique local venues. From community halls and cinemas to wineries, pubs and council spaces, each venue has been chosen not only for its character, but for the passionate local people who are helping bring these events to life.
The program showcases high-quality, affordable performances that have been carefully selected. Whether you’re a regular theatre-goer or experiencing live performance for the first time, Alive in the Upper Hunter aims to create memorable experiences that entertain, inspire and spark creativity.

Alongside selected performances, audiences will also have the opportunity to participate in workshops led by professional artists. These hands-on sessions offer local residents the chance to learn new skills, explore the creative process and gain insight into the craft behind live performance.
Alive in the Upper Hunter is proudly funded by the NSW Government through Create NSW and is committed to building stronger connections between artists, venues and communities across the region.
Our goals
- Tour up to 10 shows throughout the Upper Hunter region reaching diverse audiences to up to a dozen venues in our towns and villages, by the middle of 2027
- Re-ignite passion and interest in live theatre
- Provide work for professional performers
- Find the local champions and hopefully create a sustainable touring circuit.
