The Scone Literary Festival is delighted to announce the return of its flagship event, the Patrick White Oration, in 2026, featuring award-winning investigative journalist Kate McClymont as guest speaker.
Held on Saturday 7 March 2026 the Oration unfolds in the evening amid the quiet grandeur and striking surrounds of the Scone Race Club. Honouring the legacy of Patrick White, Australia’s only Nobel Prize–winning author, the Oration brings a nationally recognised voice to the Upper Hunter to explore literature, culture and the ideas shaping contemporary Australia.
Commencing at 5.30pm, the evening will feature a keynote address from Kate McClymont, followed by a Q&A and time to enjoy nibbles, connect with fellow book lovers and continue the conversation.
They hope you will join them for a memorable evening in one of regional NSW’s most welcoming towns. Scone is a vibrant regional centre known for its warmth and hospitality. Discover the beautiful surrounds, accommodation options and where to find the best coffee via their website.
