It was a fantastic day of creativity and collaboration as Amanda Donohue led a Wizard of Oz-themed printmaking workshop at MRAC on Saturday 12 September 2026 as part of our Visuaural: Death Cycle of a Found Piano project.
Participating artists worked together to transform a Pianola roll into a vibrant artwork, bringing beloved characters including Dorothy, Toto and the Tin Man to life. The incorporation of fabric and embroidery added rich texture and depth to the piece. The finished work will be showcased in the See+Hear exhibition next year.
With imagination, skill and a touch of Oz-inspired magic, the workshop demonstrated the power of collaborative artmaking and creative storytelling.

This workshop is part of the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre See+Hear residencies and Arts Upper Hunter’s Visuaural program. The program is made possible by the Australian Government Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia, along with Regional Arts Australia, Regional Arts New South Wales and Muswellbrook Shire Council.
