Pearl has been awarded Best Use of Colour at the Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC), announced at the opening in Melbourne on 9 April.
AQC is Australasia’s premier quiltmakers’ event, and 2026 marks its 20th anniversary. Held at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building (Carlton) from 9–12 April, this year’s show featured more than 1,000 submissions from Australia and New Zealand, with 150 textile artworks curated across seven categories.
Pearl Red Moon had two works selected as finalists and received the $500 Best Use of Colour award (judged across all entrants) for Living Luminously in the Garden of Black Flowers (140 cm x 147 cm), entered in the Art/Pictorial Quilt section. Pearl was also a finalist in the Hand or Machine Embroidered category with the garment Tangled Webs She Wove.
The exhibition will tour Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney through 2026.
