Do you have a piano that you need to get off your hands? Preferably one that hasn’t been tuned in years or is a bit “ruined”.
Please contact Haylee Knight, Project Officer at Arts Upper Hunter, projects@artsupperhunter.com.au 0477 716 739 to organise pick-up.
What we want it for. A program called Death Cycle of a Found Piano.
What will happen to it? Four groups from Dungog Shire (Dungog by Design, Dungog Arts Society, Performing Artists of Dungog and Paterson Allyn Williams Science and Ideas Hub) will dismantle the piano and rework all the many weird and wonderful parts into new and fabulous artworks or musical instruments or miscellaneous tools or whatever. (See pictures above)…
There are already pianos in Upper Hunter, Muswellbrook and Singleton LGAs getting the same treatment – now it’s Dungog’s turn. It may also get “played” along the way! And we’d love to hear the story of the piano’s place in your life.
Why “ruined”? Because a tunable piano is probably best tuned and played! However, if the piano can still be tuned and you need to get rid of it, we are happy to upcycle it anyway.
