Award-winning Blue Mountains exhibition tours to Singleton.
Go beyond simply looking and immerse yourself in the artworks when award-winning exhibition sensorial officially opens at Singleton Arts and Cultural Centre (SACC) on Saturday 15 November.
Visitors to sensorial are invited to get hands-on and use all their senses to experience this exhibition designed for and by the neurodivergent community and curated by Blue Mountains Cultural Centre.
Kelly McGowan, Council’s Acting Director Corporate and Community Services, said the exciting touring exhibition would headline the SACC’s summer offerings and Singleton’s International Day of People with Disabilities celebrations.
“Sensorial was created to be an inclusive experience and has been recognised with an accessible art award, making it a great fit for our community which strives to be as accessible and inclusive as possible,” she said.
“This exhibition will transform our already accessible gallery space into a new and unique experience that people of all ages and abilities will enjoy. Visitors don’t need to be hands-off in the gallery space this time, but will be welcome to touch, play, listen, wear and even create with the artworks.
“It will also be a standout in Singleton’s International Day People with Disabilities program of activities on 3 December, alongside an informative talk on adaptive technology and a Sensory Storytime at Singleton Public Library and a pop-up aqua class at Singleton Gym and Swim.”
Also opening at the SACC on 15 November and showing through to 26 January 2026 will be Cosmic Swamp, an installation that blends sculpture, lighting, animation and costume design by Newcastle artist Jenna Pippin, and creative works by Singleton’s senior high school students as part of Upper Arts 25.
Mrs McGowan said Cosmic Swamp would be as equally as immersive as sensorial, with the two exhibitions rounded out by a showcase of Singleton’s young talent.
“Upper Arts is always a highlight in the SACC’s annual exhibition calendar, where we get to see a glimpse into the hearts and minds of our youngest creatives in a professional gallery setting,” she said.
“We’re excited by the quality works submitted for Upper Arts 25, and hope everyone can join us at 1pm on 15 November to celebrate the opening of all three exhibitions. It’s free and everyone is welcome.”
An artist talk by Inspired by Art, led by Clare Delaney, will precede the official opening at 12.30pm. It’s free but bookings are required.
