Join Arts Upper Hunter and the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre as we strike a joyful chord through a vibrant program of FREE events and workshops celebrating music, creativity and community. It’s already started with a weaving workshop in July, and the next couple of months will see a flurry of activity at the gallery with events for both adults and children. Printmakers, dragon-slayers, grief-stricken former owners, piano noodlers, and percussionists will lead the engagement.

Printmaking Masterclass with Amanda Donohue
Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre is now seeking expressions of interest from practising print and textile artists. Led by Amanda Donohue, participants will employ a range of print, collage, and textile techniques to transform a Wizard of Oz themed pianola roll into a stunning collaborative artwork.

Celebration of Life for STRAD
An evening of music and reminiscence, led by the piano’s sparkling former owner; refreshments provided. There will be an Open Piano for anyone to use. Part jam, part wake, part concert. Come along and join in with fingers, voices, your own piano stories, or bring your ears and applause.

Percussion Workshop with Joshua Vada
Piano played differently! Participants will engage in a variety of beat making activities led by Hunter Regional Conservatorium’s Joshua Vada. Rather than traditional percussion instruments Joshua will make use of our semi-deconstructed piano. The recorded rhythmic patterns will be layered to create a percussion ensemble piece. Family friendly. Everyone welcome.

Teddy Bears Picnic Printmaking Workshop
Working on a Teddy Bears Picnic pianola roll, kids will explore a variety of printing techniques to create a collaborative artwork for display in the gallery. Free, Family Friendly. Parents to supervise to their own children.

The Destruction of Smaug and the Battle of the Five Armies for Ages 10-14 years
This is a School Holiday Workshop in partnership with Muswellbrook STEM Innovation Lab.
Combining STEM and Art, participants will work in small groups to construct a catapult, build a castle or village from piano parts, and battle opposing teams to defeat Smaug, the notorious dragon from The Hobbit. Promises to be quite the adventure!
