Dungog by Designed is pleased to present this exhibition of works by Laura Arnull & Julie Taylor for the month of April 2026.
Laura and her mother Julie share a deep connection to the family farm where Laura grew up and Julie still lives. Surrounded by its landscapes, animals and changing seasons, both artists have long drawn inspiration from this environment. Working in different mediums – Laura in painting and Julie in ceramics – their practices reflect a shared appreciation for the quiet beauty of rural life. This exhibition brings together two perspectives shaped by the same place, expressed through different materials and creative paths.
For Laura, painting is an act of memory and connection. Growing up in the Hunter Valley, she continues to draw inspiration from the country surrounding her family’s farm at Black Hill, a place that remains central to her work.
Working primarily in acrylic with a limited palette, Laura captures the quiet character and shifting moods in her landscapes. The paintings in this series depict places from her family’s farm — a landscape she feels deeply connected to and continues to return to for inspiration.

Julie has been working with clay for many years, always enjoying the way it feels in her hands and its endless versatility.
Currently working primarily in earthenware, Julie enjoys creating a ‘canvas’ of clay, adding texture and colour into the surface. Her work carries suggestions of landscapes and whimsical imagery, often enhanced with decals and touches of lustre that add mood and layers of detail.
Living on the family farm continues to inspire much of her work. Her pieces reflect a love of the natural environment and the many creatures that share it, and especially her flock of feathered friends that bring joy every day.
