Over three days in mid-July 2026, a small posse of Singleton youth joined two “grown-ups” named Just Chuck and Jez to create a very watchable video using hand-crafting and digital tools.
When it turned out that three of the young people were also musicians (as were the adults) the stage was set to make something that was truly collaborative and very fun … and worth a watch. Check it out here.
“It was so wild,” said Just Chuck (Chuck Grotte is a DJ and digital creator), “these young guys just got into it. One of them said, I can’t draw and then at the end she was drawing all these great landscapes.”
According to Arts Upper Hunter’s John O’Brien, “when I visited there were all these cut-outs strewn across a very messy workspace, while one young person was painting a background and a couple of others were noodling on their guitars in the corridor. It was focused and oh so creative. And Chuck and Jez worked brilliantly as a facilitating partnership.” (Jez is Singleton artist and teacher Jeremy Dwyer.)
